Meet The Crew

Maegan McPherson

My name is Maegan McPherson and I am the owner of THM Productions and one of the owners in our new barrel racing incentive called The Gold Rush with partners Whitney Knippling, Lee & Hallie Hanssen and Cally Kindred.

I was born in Rapid City, SD but grew up in Martin, SD. After graduating from Bennett County High School, I moved out to the Black Hills Area and received my Bachelor’s Degree in Business with Specializations in Marketing, Entrepreneurial Studies, and Management from Black Hills State University.

After college I used my degree to purchase Today’s Horse Magazine, which was a regional publication here in the Midwest, targeting anything and everything horse related. My passion has always been horses, so getting involved in the horse industry from a management/marketing standpoint has been very beneficial and an awesome experience. I will forever treasure all of the relationships I made and people I was able to work with and serve. I recently closed the doors on Today’s Horse Magazine, where I was the owner and editor for 13 years to pursue my true passion of producing barrel racing and roping events, and devote my time to The Gold Rush.

When I am not riding horses, barrel racing or producing an event, you can find me enjoying another passion of mine, which is music. I love singing, and I can play piano, guitar and the alto saxophone. To keep music in my life, I started a business called Uncorked Entertainment in 2014, a complete DJ service, where I mostly DJ weddings and special parties by word of mouth. If you have a country wedding I’m the DJ for you!

I’ve also competed in many singing competitions throughout life, even trying out for American Idol when I was 16. I’ve sang the national anthem at big events like the Cinch Playoffs, Central States Fair and the Black Hills Stock Show, with an ultimate goal of singing at the NFR one day.

I was married to Michael McPherson September 23rd 2017, and was blessed with a step son named Cash (16) and Michael and I have two daughters together, Midori (7) and Macy (5). We own a farm/ranch and feedlot north of Box Elder, SD where we put up our own feed, and run cattle and horses. We stand three stallions to the public: Fame Flit N Fling, Jess Special Effort and recently added A Stella Goodbye to our lineup at Wagon Pin Performance Horses.

Whitney Knippling

I was raised on a ranch north of Chamberlain, S.D. Being actively involved in the horse industry and rodeo was a way of life for me and my family. I participated in 4-H and high school rodeo, where I competed in barrel racing, pole bending, goat tying, breakaway roping and team roping. After high school, I continued my education on a rodeo scholarship to Oklahoma Panhandle State University were I pursued a degree in Agricultural Business. After college, I returned to South Dakota where I continue to rodeo at the amateur and pro levels, attending jackpots when time allows. I am excited to be a new employee for Today’s Horse Magazine and would love to assist you and your business with any advertising needs.
